Don Baker Live at the Spirit Store

Don and the band took the audience from hushed with “Been alone too Long”, “Never Let you Down” and “Louise Baby” to rocking with “Mama” and “Running from Freedom” and many more. Don took the stage at 10pm and left the audience exhausted, but happy, at 1am following two encores. A marathon session with which I have fast become familar.

The Spirit Store, originally the port merchant’s house which had fallen into considerable disrepair, was restored in 1999 by the two Mark’s and opened it’s doors in October of that year. The pub dates from circa 1840 when the quay outside was constructed to facilitate the Dundalk to Liverpool packet steamer run by the St. George’s Steampacket Company. Upstairs houses, what has become, one of the finest LIVE music venues in the country literally hand-made by the two Mark’s for music. The atmosphere is intimate and electric making the venue one of the most popular amongst musicians and music fans alike.
